Dragon “Klaas Verhaegen” – WW2 Belgian Volunteer MG34 Gunner [Review]

Hey guys, welcome back to another review. If my voice sounds a little weird that’s because I’m getting over a sickness so bear with me, I haven’t been feeling too good these past few days but I’m really excited to show you guys this awesome Dragon figure that I picked up around a month ago now.

I’m finally getting a review done for him. His name is Klaas Verhaegen. He was released in 2008 and what’s really neat about this figure is that he’s actually Belgian and as far as I know this is the only Belgian figure that was made. So I just think that is really cool. This is a really rare figure and I think because of that fact that he’s possibly the only Belgian made. He’s very highly sought after by collectors including myself. I’ve been trying to get this one for a good while but he’s really rare.

I got his for $50 I think off eBay, which is a great price. Let’s go ahead and take a look at the box. It’s Eastern Front 1944, this guy’s a Belgian volunteer, MG34 Gunner. We got a great picture there of the figure. This one looks very unique. I really like the way he looks. Then we’ve got another great picture on the side, and the back of the box, and they do have some optional badge there and also a cuff piece there.

They give you four of those so you can choose between which ones you want and I went for that one and that one, so that’s pretty cool. Let’s go ahead and bring out the figure now. All right, here he is. This one is very nice. He looks great and just looks very unique. All right, so let’s go ahead and take a look at his MG34.

So here it is and this is really nice. And you can get some cool poses here. I like to put it on his shoulder like this. I think that’s a really cool pose. Here it is up close. Very nicely detailed. We got the rear sight over here. We got a bipod and a nice strap on there, a very sturdy strap and then over here, we got this cartridge here, which you can pull off. You can pull this piece back and this also swivels out. So a lot of details on here. And then they also give a strip of bullets here that you can put on if you want. There we go. So very nice weapon here, great detailing.

All right, I love the figure’s helmet that he comes with. I think that looks great. I love the camo design. Very nice. Let’s go ahead and take that off. All right and you can see he’s got this wrap around his head for extra warmth and protection and if we just pull this back and take a look at its head sculpt, which is also very unique.

I like the hair strands that are coming down on his forehead. Great detailing on this head sculpt, I think it looks very good. All right, as for the figure’s equipment. Up front, we have this patch here. We have a pistol holster and I already have him holding it here. It comes with a Luger, which is really cool. You don’t see these a lot and he holds that really well. Let’s go ahead and look at that really quickly. Of course, the clip comes out and you can pull this piece back. All right, on the back, we just have the standard equipment.

Got his canteen, his mesh tin, bread basket and his canister there for his gas mask. All right, a pretty simple uniform but what I really love are these badges that he comes with. So we got this badge here and it’s called a Lion Badge for Volunteer Legion Flanders and so it’s for the Belgian volunteers and that is really cool.

And then we’ve got the cuff title, that’s what that is called. And then another badge up here and there should be another one up there. I did get this figure brand new but for some reason the badge that was up there was missing. I’m really sure what happened there. You can see it on the front of the box there. I’ll have to see if I can find an extra one from my collection. I should have an extra one.

Love those badges, I think those look great. Then we got some more up here that you have to put on and then his shoulder pads. Okay, he’s got the gloved hands and then we got some great looking boots here as well. So overall this is really a fantastic figure. I’m really glad I was able to pick this one up. I’ve been trying to get him for a good while and really he’s awesome.

So guys, I really recommend you pick this one up if you can find him. Just stay alert and always be checking eBay and eventually he will pop up and hopefully for a good price. So thanks for watching, guys, and I will see you in the next review.
