Hey, what’s up guys? Welcome back to another review. Today we’re taking a look at a US figure, a pretty interesting figure. His name is Brandon Chase. He is a US Navy Signalman from Omaha Beach 1944. And right off the bat, what’s really unique about this figure as you can see from the picture on the box is that his head sculpt, his mouth is actually open, which is pretty unusual for Dragon figures to have expressions like that. So, I thought that was really cool. This is one that I’ve been trying to get ahold of for a little while. He is definitely on the rare side.
So, very happy to have him finally. But yeah, here’s a look at the box and on the side, we’ve got another picture of him. And here is the back of the box. And this one came out in 2006. All right. So great looking box as always. And let’s bring out the figure now. All right, guys, here he is. Brandon Chase. A really excellent figure. Dragon did a great job on this one. I was really impressed with him. Just looks great in this kind of pose where it looks like he’s directly talking right into his walkie-talkie there. Just looks great.
So for starters, let’s take a look at his radio or walkie-talkie. And this is really nice. Good detailing on this. You got a little strap on there. All right. And as you can see, slung across his shoulder is M1 carbine. All right. So a typical Dragon carbine here, but nicely detailed as always. You can pull that back, you can see the bullet inside and of course you get a nice strap on there as well.
Let me show you the figure holding the carbine. There you go. His fingers definitely kind of conform to the shape of the walkie-talkie. So they look a little awkward there, but still he holds that really well. There you can see the thumb and the fingers are spread apart more from holding the walkie-talkie for a little while now, but anyway, moving on to the helmet and the head sculpt. See that looks really fantastic. Just excellent detailing. I really liked the helmet on this one. It says USN 7 on there, and that stands for the 7th naval beach battalion. It isn’t a metal helmet, just a plastic one, but still very nice. All right. And here is a better look at the head sculpt, which is super awesome. Once again, that expression is just really unusual for Dragon figures and I think it looks great. Very realistic, hair is also nice. He’s got a crew cut and you can see there are teeth actually painted in there. I don’t know if you could see that, but you can see his teeth and his tongue as well. So just really good detail on the face.
As for his equipment, pretty simple figure, but I really love his gas mask case there, or bag whatever you want to call that, but it’s really nice. It reminds me a lot of the G.I. Joe Omaha Beach Landing figure, just a more realistic version, I guess, in a way, much more realistic version. But anyway, here’s a look at that. There is no gas mask inside, unfortunately, but still really nice. It’s kind of this like soft material.
All right in the front, on his belt, you can see he’s got two pouches there with extra clips for his carbine, and they do give you four extra clips for that. And then in the back, we’ve got these canteen with the pouch for that, and then his first aid bag over there, or pouch. All right. And that’s pretty much everything that goes on to his belt and everything fits well on there. Pretty easy to assemble too. Sometimes these belts can be a pain trying to hook those metal pieces into the holes, that can get a little frustrating, but once you get in there it stays in pretty well. So, all right. As for his uniform, he’s got this really nice jacket and if I just zip it down a little bit, you can see his shirt underneath. All right. And that fits really nicely on there. Very snug. We’ve got his trousers and then I love the boots on this one.
And Oh, one last thing here. He does also come with a wristwatch, which is really nice, and that is very nicely detailed as well. Overall, everything is really realistic on this figure. I was really impressed with him as I thought I would be, just based on pictures I had seen of him before. So really happy to have this one in the collection. His really awesome and I really just can’t recommend getting him enough. If you can find him. I did get him off eBay and I paid around 70 bucks for him, so I thought that was a pretty good price. Definitely a little pricey, but I think it’s worth it. The head sculpt super awesome. I love that expression and the radio is really cool. And I liked this gas mask bag a lot as well. So guys, this is a good one to pick up for sure. I hope you enjoyed this review and got a lot more Dragon figures to review and hopefully some G.I. Joes as well in the future. So stay tuned for those and I’ll see you next time.
